A new Viagra patent that could be blocked in Canada is also pending.
The drug that has been on the market for about a year is now protected by a Canadian patent. It's a new patent which could be blocked by the Supreme Court on Nov. 15.
The new patent on Viagra expires on Friday, and Canada will start selling the generic version of the drug in the U. S. for $12.65 a pill. That's up from $1.13 a pill in the U. last month. The Canadian patent also expires in the U. Nov. 27.
A generic version of the pill would be just a matter of time before it gets the boost from an international patent, but the Canadian patent on Viagra, which the U. has since expired, still doesn't have a U. patent.
The Canadian patent on Viagra will only be valid in Canada for a period of three years. In other cases, Canada will only allow the generic drug to be sold in the U.
The Canadian patent on Viagra is not a permanent injunction, but rather an option for other countries to use in their manufacturing processes to develop their own versions of the drug. There are currently only two generics of the drug in the U. S., and there are only three of them.
The new patent on Viagra will be blocked by the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court has already blocked another generic drug in the U. S., generic sildenafil, which is sold in India as Viagra.

Canada has been fighting for years to get its patent on Viagra to allow its generic competitor to launch. While Viagra has not been approved by the FDA for sale in the U. S., Canada is still a long way from being able to get its patent on Viagra.
